Desktop Publishing - InDesign CS4

Page history last edited by Mr. Todd 13 years, 11 months ago

During this 5-day unit, you will produce a user manual for the Photography Project.  You will use Adobe InDesign CS4 and the photographs you took in the previous rotation to complete this challenge.  You may use text content from the sample photography manual (incomplete) - click here to view the sample manual.

To help you learn InDesign, your instructor will provide some introductory lessons to the software.  You may also want to view some helpful videos from the Adobe TV Site - click here to view the listing of InDesign lessons.  You should also refer to the InDesign Help Menu for assistance as required.

HOW YOU'LL COMPLETE THIS PROJECT:

  • Develop InDesign skills through class lessons, training videos and Help Menu references.
  • Use sample manual as a guide for content for your user manual.  You may copy text instead of re-typing all content, but you MUST use your own photographs taken in the previous unit.
  • You will use linked images, styles, master pages, tab stops page numbering and correct page/text formatting procedures to produce a well-designed, easy-to-follow user manual.
  • You are free to redesign the manual using different fonts, colours, etc.
  • You have approximately 5 periods to complete this challenge.

HOW YOU'LL BE MARKED:

  • 50% - Page Content/Completeness (all components included, correct content, free of spelling and/or grammar errors)
  • 30% - Technical Skill (Use of Page Styles, Tab Stops, Master Pages, Page Numbering, Image Linking & File Management/Packaging)
  • 20% - Creativity/Design (consistent, attractive page design/layout - well designed document)

WHAT YOU'LL HAND IN:

  • Properly packaged InDesign file with ALL linked images.
  • PDF copy of final document
